upcycliNg nigHt
Give old pieces new life. Upcycle Night is a monthly creative gathering centered on repurposing, repairing, embellishing, and transforming clothing, textiles, accessories, and other personal items with support from local upcycling artists and creative entrepreneurs.
Participants are expected to bring an item they would like to upcycle, mend, customize, or transform. This could be a denim jacket, pair of jeans, tote bag, T-shirt, accessory, fabric item, or another piece that's ready for a second life.
This is not a traditional step-by-step workshop, and Living Room does not provide a pre-planned project. Instead, guests are invited to work on their own items while receiving informal guidance, inspiration, and technique support from a rotating group of creative guides throughout the evening.
No prior experience is necessary. Beginners are welcome.

Whether you come with a clear vision or need help getting started, our co-hosts will be available to offer ideas, techniques, and encouragement throughout the night.
Basic materials provided, but participants need to bring their own project: Living Room will provide a shared selection of basic supplies, including thread, needles, buttons, beads, and miscellaneous upcycling materials. You’re welcome to bring additional materials. Please bring your own clothing, textile, or other item to work on.

About your hosts
Megan King is the artist/owner of Pathwork Studio,, a creative reuse studio that transforms discarded textiles into one-of-a-kind clothing and accessories. She believes reinvention is a powerful tool. By learning to reuse, mend, and reimagine what already exists, we can create a more sustainable—and far more interesting—approach to fashion. Megan is an active member of the DC creative community, serving as a designer and volunteer for the reFashion Show and as a DC Maker's Guild board member.
Carolyn Becker of @Petite_Punk is a DMV-based thrift expert, community cultivator, and creative explorer.
Sophia Mondragon (@dragongrl.vintage) is a Washington, DC-based designer, stylist, upcycler, vintage curator, and founder of Dragon Girl Vintage. After leaving a career in politics, she began channeling her lifelong love for fashion and sustainability into creative work that celebrates individuality. Drawing inspiration from art, music, and subculture, her work blends curated vintage and creative reuse into unique pieces that are bold, expressive, and unapologetically personal.
